Cert IV TAE40116 Upgrade

As of 1 July 2019, anyone who holds the superseded TAE40110 qualification will need to update to the new TAE40116 upgrade Certificate IV Training and Assessment to continue working as a trainer and assessor in the industry.

Depending on the units of competency that you hold, and the outcome that you wish to achieve, there may be a couple of options for you to consider when you update TAE40110 to TAE40116 or upgrade TAA40104 to TAE40116. RAM Training Services’ most popular Cert IV TAE40116 upgrade option, is the Full Upgrade course, with courses run monthly on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, Cairns, and Perth. We can also come to your premises for private group bookings, nationally. This option, results in participant’s obtaining the new TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification, by receiving credit transfer for the core units still current in your TAE40110 qualification, doing some gap training on the 2 non-equivalent units, and completing 1-2 new units (dependent on what you have on your existing qualification).

If you’re looking to make the TAE40110 to TAE40116 upgrade, we have a range of delivery methods available for your study. We know that sometimes studying Face-to-Face isn’t an option, so we have tailored the Cert 4 Training and Assessment Upgrade to Distance Learning as well.

Upgrade TAE40110 to TAE40116 online with our virtual learning. However, if you prefer to study in person with hands-on learning and workshops, you can complete your Cert IV TAE40116 Upgrade at one of our great Queensland or Western Australia locations.

Note – all Live Virtual courses are run on QLD time.

• Full Upgrade (2-day Workshop + Distance Learning)

  This option is for those who currently hold the TAE40110 and wish to upgrade to TAE40116 to remain qualified with a TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment upgrade. The 2-day classroom workshop (either Face to Face, or Live Virtual Online via Zoom) consists of 2-days in class, plus some pre & post-course work required. The TAE Full Upgrade distance learning component, includes self-paced reading, short answer questions, task-based activities, and the TAELLN411 unit assessment if required.

  Units covered in the full TAE40116 upgrade online virtually or face-to-face:

  TAELLN411 – address adult language literacy and numeracy skills
  TAEASS502 – design and develop assessment tools
  TAEASS401 – gap training
  TAEASS403 – gap training

  If you already hold the TAELLN411 unit, you will receive Credit Transfer for this unit as well.

  The below documents will be required to enrol to upgrade TAE40110 to TAE40116 in Brisbane, or wider Queensland:

  • Resume
  • TAE40110 Certificate
  • TAE40110 Transcript
• Partial Upgrade (1-day Workshop + Distance Learning)

  While this option WON’T give you the new TAE40116 upgrade or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification, it still enables you to continue to work in a Trainer and Assessor role, and remain compliant for the time-being. It is, however, more suitable for someone who doesn’t intend on training for too long into the future, as it is likely that further upgrading will be required down the track, if you don’t hold the TAE40116 qualification.

  The 1-day Partial Upgrade (delivered either Face to Face, or Live Virtual Online via Zoom), consists of 1-day in class, with pre and post course work required.

  The post course work includes the creation of 2 assessment tools (you’ll create 1 in the workshop, which will help you gain the understanding and knowledge, to creating the 2nd & 3rd assessment tools post-course), short answer questions, and the TAELLN411 unit assessment.

  Units Covered for the partial upgrade:

  TAELLN411
  TAEASS502

  Upon successful completion you’ll receive a statement of attainment for the above units only, to be used in conjunction with your superseded TAE40110 qualification.

• TAEASS502 Only (1-day Workshop + Distance Learning)

  This option is similar to the Partial Upgrade, however doesn’t include the TAELLN411 unit, for those who already hold this unit of competency.

  This option will NOT give you the full TAE40116 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment qualification, however, it allows you to continue to work in a Trainer and Assessor role, when used in conjunction with your superseded TAE40110 qualification (which must include the TAELLN411 unit). The TAEASS502 1-day workshop, consists of 1-day in class (Face to Face, or Live Virtual Online via Zoom), with pre and post course work required.

  The post course work includes the creation of 2 assessment tools (you’ll create 1 in the classroom workshop, which will help you gain the understanding and knowledge, to creating the 2nd & 3rd assessment tool post-course), short answer questions.

  Upon successful completion you’ll receive a statement of attainment for the TAEASS502 unit only, to be used in conjunction with your superseded TAE40110 qualification.

• Gap Training Only (1-day Workshop + Distance Learning)

  Some trainers may already hold most of the TAE40116 units of competency, and only need to complete the gap training required for the 2 units that are no longer equivalent (TAEASS401 and TAEASS403), to fulfill the requirements of the Cert IV training and assessment upgrade in Brisbane or nationwide.

  This can be achieved by attending our 1-day Gap Training workshop (Face to Face, or Live Virtual Online via Zoom).  A small amount of pre and post-course work will also be required.

  Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate for the full TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

• How long will it take me to finish my course?

  You have up to 12 months to complete your studies, however, on average (dependent on each person’s individual circumstances and experience), it should take you between 4 and 6 months to finish.

• What resources will I need?

  You will need a computer with MS Office, access to the internet, and a printer for a small amount of printing.

• Do you give extensions?

  On the odd occasion that a student needs an extension for their Upgrade course, we are able to offer an extension of 1 month at a time – dependent on any changes to the qualification or course materials.  There is no guarantee that we will be able to give an extension, but we will always try to accommodate our students to the best of our ability.

  If available, the first extension is free of charge. Any further extensions needed, will incur a re-enrolment fee of between $395 and $595, dependent on whether a complete new set of course materials is required. In some cases, this may mean you will need to re-do parts, or all, of your assessment tasks using the new materials.

• Can I upgrade my TAA40104 or BSZ40198 to the new TAE40116?

  Unfortunately not – these qualifications have been superseded too many times, so you will need to complete the full TAE40116 course.
