TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This TAE40122 5-day Live Virtual Accelerated Program runs similarly to the face-to-face method, except it’s delivered in an online environment, live over Zoom, and requires 1 additional presentation to complete as post-course work. The course requires participants to complete self-paced pre-course and post-course work, as outlined below. 

Pre-Course Tasks
The pre-course work required to be completed before the 5-day workshop includes:

• self-paced reading
• watching recorded tutorials 
• small amount of short answer questions for the TAEASS412 unit of competency

Post-Course Tasks
The post-course work is made up of a variety of tasks and activities, these include

• short answer questions
• case scenarios
• research activities
• completion of presentations activities.

Participants have up to 18 months to successfully complete their post-course assessments.

During the Cert IV Training and Assessment (virtual) classroom days, you will complete a range of assessment tasks, and group activities. As well as completing tasks that require a VET Trainer/Teacher to act as a lead validator - eliminating the need for a participant to source their own trainer in order to complete these tasks.

This method of delivery gives you the skills and knowledge required to complete the remainder of the TAE assessment tasks from home, using the knowledge gained during the week, as well as access to pre-recorded instructional webinars and pre-recorded tutorials.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment training package requires you to deliver presentations to a face-to-face audience - your audience must physically be in the same room as you. Participants can be friends, family, colleagues, or fellow-students.  You will need to organise the below as part of your post-course work:

• 1 person to deliver 3 x 30min face-to-face one-on-one presentation sessions to – this must be a participant over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded or observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor
• 4 people to deliver 3 x 30min face-to-face presentation sessions to (cannot include the 1 person from the one-on-one) – these participants must be over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded or observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor

Participants will also need access to the following:

• Internet
• Microsoft office
• Adobe (Free version) 
• Laptop/desktop PC/tablet 

NO work placement required – while other providers may require you to source an RTO for work placement to finalise your assessments, this delivery method has been specifically designed to eliminate the need for this.

The TAE40122 3-Day Virtual Essentials Program, gives the participants the flexibility to complete the majority of the course from home at their own pace, but with the addition of a 3-day virtual Assessment & Validation workshop to cover off the ‘Essential’ assessment tasks that require an experienced and qualified VET Trainer in order to lead the assessment tasks - as outlined below. 

Please note, the following requirements will be the same, regardless of the training provider that you enrol with. When doing your research, make sure that you read the fine print or ask specifically for information on the below requirements, that apply to the TAEASS412 and TAEASS413 core units of competency.  Some providers require you to arrange these tasks yourself - where we include them in our 3-day workshop, to save you the hassle. 

The tasks include:

• 9 Validation tasks that require participants to have a qualified and experienced VET Trainer or Assessor lead all 9 validations, along with an additional person to act as an assessor and participate in the 9 validations
• 6 Assess Competency tasks that have to be observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor

During the 3-Day Essentials Program - RAM’s highly qualified assessor will act as the lead validator and walk you through these assessment tasks, providing the guidance and support you need to be signed off on these assessment tasks. 

Your 3-day Assessment & Validation Workshop date is booked separately to your overall course start date, and can be booked in as soon as you have enrolled and paid for your TAE40122 course, or at any time throughout your studies (regardless of whether you have commenced or completed any of your course work), giving you the flexibility to control when you opt to attend the 3-day workshop. 

All Certificate IV TAE40122 participants are supported by our pre-recorded tutorials and pre-recorded instructional webinars, giving the participants the flexibility to work on their assessments at a time that suits their needs. Participants have up to 18 months to successfully complete their assessments from home.

The 3-Day Virtual Essentials Program + Mentoring course, gives the participants the flexibility to complete parts of the course from home at their own pace, but with the addition of a 3-day virtual Assessment & Validation Workshop to cover off the ‘Essential’ assessment tasks that require an experienced and qualified VET Trainer in order to lead the assessment tasks - as outlined below, as well as tailored one-on-one mentoring sessions, via fortnightly 30-min Zoom meetings, in addition to our standard phone and email support.

The Certificate IV TAE Distance Learning gives the participants the flexibility to complete their course from home at their own pace. This method of delivery is most suited to someone working in an RTO environment, and/or with access to qualified and experienced VET Trainers.

Participants have up to 18 months to successfully complete their assessments from home.

To meet the requirements to complete the TAE40122 via 100% distance learning, participants must have access to/source the following themselves (not provided by RAM Training services, for the Distance Learning course).

• Access to an experienced and qualified VET Trainer or Assessor to act as the lead validator on 9 validation activities (must be experienced in validation activities).
• Access to an additional participant to act as an additional trainer and to participate in the 9 validation activities.
• Access to a qualified VET Trainer or assessor to witness you completing 6 assess competency tasks.

If you do not have access to an experienced qualified VET Trainer or Assessor, check out the 3-Day Essentials Program or the 5-day Accelerated Program, both of those delivery methods include workshop components to cover these requirements.

Cancellation, Refund & Rescheduling Policy

All course fees include a 20% registration fee which is non-refundable. A 7-day cooling-off period applies from the date of payment. During this period, you may cancel your enrolment and receive a refund less the 20% non-refundable registration fee, provided your workshop is not within 7 days (if a workshop forms part of your course), and as long as no assessments have been submitted to our office for marking. Any hard copy course materials that have been issued, must be returned unedited, prior to a refund being processed. After the 7-day cooling-off period ends, no refunds will be issued.

Where a participant has entered into a payment plan for their course fees, this is a contractual commitment to pay the entire course fee in full, and therefore the standard Cancellation & Refund Policy applies.

If your course includes a face to face or virtual workshop, and you wish to postpone the workshop component, you can do so with 7 or more days’ notice, prior to the workshop, free of charge on one occasion. Should you need to postpone a second time, with 7 or more days’ notice, there will be a 20% (of the full course fee) rescheduling fee.

If a participant needs to reschedule within 7 days of their workshop start date, a 20% rescheduling fee will apply in the first instance. Should a participant need to reschedule a 2nd time, the full course fee will apply.

Should we need to postpone a workshop for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the course within the following two months. If, however, this is not possible, or the rescheduled dates do not suit, participants will be entitled to a full refund.

During the 5 day virtual, participants will complete the same content as covered in the 3 day virtual, which is the practical tasks for TAEASS412 and TAEASS413, but in addition to completing these practical tasks, participants will also complete the short answer questions for TAEASS413 (one less assessment booklet to complete as post course work), on the final day of the workshop, the trainer will also guide participants through both delivery portfolios, explaining how to create the delivery session plans for both the group sessions and the 1 on 1 sessions, help provide guidance in completing the mentee plans, as well as provide ideas and recommendations on topics to use for the delivery sessions. This is an excellent opportunity to gain further guidance and clarification on tasks while with the trainer.

To complete the Cert IV in Training & Assessment, tools you’ll need include access to the internet, a computer/laptop with Microsoft Office, a printer, and a video recording device as simple as an iPhone.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment has a substantial amount of changes in the unit of competency requirements compared to the previous versions of the qualification, meaning depending on the delivery method an individual has chosen will determine the resource requirements.

5-day Face to Face Accelerated Program

5-day live virtual Accelerated Program

• 1 person to deliver 3 x 30min face to face one-on-one presentation session to – This participant must be over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor. 
• A group of 4 people to deliver 3 x 30min face to face presentation session to (cannot include the 1 person from the one-on-one) – These participants must be over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor. 

3-day Virtual Essentials Program

• 1 person to deliver 3 x 30min face to face one-on-one presentation session to – This participant must be over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor. 
• A group of 4 people to deliver 3 x 30min face to face presentation session to (cannot include the 1 person from the one-on-one) – These participants must be over the age of 15 and the session must be recorded observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor.

Distance Learning

Please note, the following requirements will be the same, regardless of the training provider that you enrol with. While we are confident that our students will be able to submit all of their assessments for the TAE40122 within their allocated timeframe of 18 months, and we provide extensive support to assist with this, there are occasions where our student’s personal circumstances may unavoidably cause delays for them. Due to regular updates to our assessment materials, as well as to training packages in general, if we are able to offer an extension, we are only able to extend due dates by 1 month at a time, should you require it. Please note, there is no guarantee that we will be able to offer an extension, but we are more than happy to do so where possible.

There is no fee charged for the first extension given. Any further extensions requested, will incur a re-enrolment fee of between $395 and $595, dependent on whether a complete new set of course materials is required. In some cases, this may mean you will need to re-do parts, or all, of your assessment tasks using the new materials.

We will check in with you regularly, once you have commenced, to make sure you’re progressing. And don’t forget to join (free) as many of our Live Q&A Webinars as you like – these are a great help to many of our students to facilitate online learning!

Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. This is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. For example, to teach ‘business’ qualifications you will need to have existing skills and prior learning in the industry, such as a business qualification (to at least the level you wish to teach) along with several years of relevant experience working in business.

The TAE40122 has multiple assessment tasks that require the tasks to be completed under the supervision of an experienced and qualified VET Trainer or Assessor. 

If you believe you have access to your own observer, below are the requirements for an individual to be eligible to observer/lead the different tasks. 

Delivery Observer Eligibility: 

• Holds a TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122, or a higher adult education qualification (e.g. TAE50122, TAE50222, or equivalent) or Bachelor of Adult Education
• Has current experience in training and/or assessing and must be currently working as a trainer and assessor

Lead Validator Eligibility:

• Holds a TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122, or a higher adult education qualification (e.g. TAE50122, TAE50222, or equivalent) or Bachelor of Adult Education
• Has current experience in training and/or assessing and must be currently working as a trainer and assessor – Especially experience in leading/participating in validations of full units of competency

Assess Competency Observer Eligibility:

• Holds a TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122, or a higher adult education qualification (e.g. TAE50122, TAE50222, or equivalent) or Bachelor of Adult Education
• Has current experience in training and/or assessing and must be currently working as a trainer and assessor

While we don’t believe it will be necessary to do so (the 2 qualifications are equivalent, and as long as the Standards don’t change, there is no requirement to do so), it will be possible to do a TAE40116 upgrade to TAE40122. Depending on what units you have completed previously, this would require gap training on 7-8 units, credit transfer for 1-4 units, and completion of 1-3 new units.

Given that the TAE40122 is equivalent to the TAE40116 (and anyone holding the TAE40116 qualification, will not have to upgrade), we are recommending that students complete the TAE40116 version while they still can. The TAE40116 will be less expensive than the TAE40122, has 2 less units to complete, and is equivalent, meaning you won’t need a TAE40122 upgrade.

Unfortunately not sorry! These versions have both been superseded at least twice now, which means none of the units are equivalent to the TAE40116 or the new TAE40122. You will need to complete the full course.
