The security industry is growing in popularity and has become a much more mainstream job. There are many reasons people decide to work in the security industry and find it such a rewarding career.

Pros

 

  • Is it generally easier to find a job in the security industry with appropriate qualifications than it is in other industries
  • Working as a security guard is a good starting point when wanting to work in high paying protective services

  • The position can give you confidence in your everyday life
  • There are a range of security training courses you can take to equip you for a career in the industry

  • It is more exciting than most office jobs
  • There are many different types of security guards
  • Most of the time you are employed privately

Cons

 

  • When starting out as a security guard the pay (like most jobs) is not huge
  • You can work in unsafe environments
  • You will have to write a lot; incident reports are a must in the industry as it logs everything that happens while you are on duty
  • You will probably be on your feet a lot
  • You will need to get a security licence
  • You may be required to work unusual hours
