Potential Jobs at the Commonwealth Games

The 2018 Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast from April 4th to 15th, 2018. This popular multi-sport event will bring thousands of participants and spectators alike to the Gold Coast. Not only is this great publicity and an honor for our country, but it can also provide a great number of jobs as well. There are potential jobs in marketing, construction, ticket sales, hospitality, customer service and security, just to name a few.

In the following article we will highlight some of the various jobs being offered for the Commonwealth Games 2018 (please note – we are not specifically hiring or training for these jobs.  For our current jobs please see our website: www.ramrecruitment.com.au).

Marketing is a key component for the exciting event. Some of the jobs that will be offered in the marketing area include the following:

  • PR
  • Event Planning
  • Conference Management
  • General Marketing

As with any event in which there will be a large number of participants, security is a crucial component in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. There will be plenty of various levels of security jobs available. You can look online to see what certifications and training is needed for these positions.

In addition to the main event venue, there will be other sights that need to be designed and constructed. These include merchant booths, first aid stations and the like. There will be ample construction jobs available for this exciting event. In addition to this, there may be various architectural and graphic design positions available to help design any additional structures that need to be built for the games.

Ticket Sales/Reservations

Tickets for the event will go on sale well before the event, sometime in 2017 so this will open up a great number of customer service positions. These also include reservations, general customer service, etc. Anyone who has customer service experience should consider applying for a position in this area as it will be a great way to get involved early in the preparation.

This area covers a wide variety of positions: from assisting with the above areas (ticket sales, customer service, reservations, etc) to catering, food prep and service, first aid, parking attendants, ushers,  greeters, telephone operates, and general customer service positions. There will be a multitude of opportunities to get involved. Hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts will most likely require additional staff for the event including: bellhops, front desk, maid service, etc.

Some of these positions will require training or certification so if you are interested in participating in this exciting event, you should consider beginning your training or education now as this will give you a better shot at getting a job with one of the above mentioned departments. Keep checking online for information about the jobs that are being offered for the event. The following sites are a good resource for job information:
