Important Interview Tips to Help You Get the Job

Job interview tips

Interviews are an extremely important part of landing the job. You don’t want to let being nervous or unprepared effect your chances of candidacy, so RAM Training have compiled a selection of handy interview tips to help you get the job you want.

Dress Appropriately

Your attire is a standard thought that will go through your head when receiving an interview. Dress smartly and appropriate to the job you’re applying for – but avoid dressing like a completely different person; you still want to look like you. Get a second opinion on your outfit or have a pre-picked one ready for use to avoid over thinking it.

Previous Employment

Making negative comments regarding previous or current employers can reflect badly on you. Remember they are ultimately judging your personality and work ability during your interview. Have a short spiel prepared in case the question arises, for example: The position I am currently in no longer suits my future aspirations.

Research the Business

Do your research before attending the interview. The best way to do this is by looking online at their company website and through any recent news about the company. You want to know what they do, why they do it and how you can benefit them. It also shows you have initiative and an interest in their business.

Interviews can be stressful and you may feel distracted. Be sure to listen to everything they tell you and only agree or say yes if you are completely sure. You don’t want to say you can do something and not be able to do it on your first day. By listening you show you are attentive and learn valuable knowledge about the company you might not hear again.

Be Confident

Confidence is one of the most important aspects of a job interview. You landed the interview for a reason so don’t be shy; but don’t be over confident either. Stand straight, shake hands, make eye contact, smile and be yourself. You will do great!
